How to improve your credit score
Your credit score is important! A good credit score can help you buy the car or house of your dreams, or even help you get that loan you need to build your business. Here is some information that will help:
Here are some tips to improve your credit score:
- There are several ways you can obtain your credit report. You can obtain your credit report from all 3 credit bureaus once a year for free at Annual Credit Report.com. You can also obtain a free credit report from other websites such as Credit Karma. You may also obtain your credit report from other sources, such as directly from the credit bureaus, usually for a small fee.
- Now that you have your credit report, gather any derogatory items, such as late payments, collections, etc. Each negative item will contain details and contact information of the reporting agency. Organize all this information so that you can take the appropriate actions to remove the negative information.
- You may dispute the negative items on your credit report directly from the online credit report, or by filing a dispute through the credit bureau's website. By law the reporting agency must respond within a certain amount of time, if not, the item should be automatically removed from your credit report. In addition, if disputing the item does not work, you may contact the reporting agency directly to make a settlement. But before you pay any settlement, make sure the reporting agency agrees to remove the derogatory item from your report upon payment (it may be a good idea to get this agreement in writing, so you have proof that the reporting agency agreed to remove the item from your credit report).
